Hold Still by Nina LaCour

This book in 3 words: Devastating. Crucial. Outstanding.

I loved this book. ABSOLUTELY. LOVED. IT. This book will crack you open and then stitch you back together, sort of. You feel it in all kinds of ways... which is how grief actually works. 🖤

One of the best things is the characters. I have a hard time with YA authors who struggle to write a good teenage character, but Nina LaCour nails it in Hold Still. The characters are rich, plausible, and heartbreakingly believable. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The writing is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. So good. I loved that the story was broken up into seasons as well as having a mixed media element. It made difficult content easier to consume and I feel it worked really well here.

This one is tough and comes with a whole list of TW to look up prior to reading. Sadly, I've lost a few people to suicide; stories like this are so important. If you or anyone you know are facing suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255). We need you.
