The Summer Break by Megan Reinking
This book in 3 words: Dreamy. Playful. Affectionate.
The Summer Break is book 2 of The Hawaiian Getaway series. Paige, a kindergarten teacher in Minnesota, heads to the beach for her summer break. Not only will she meet up with her best friend, Mia, but what happens when she meets the cliche-flirty-bartender, Matt? Will Paige get the break she needs?
Isn’t it enjoyable when characters portray real jobs, in the way they are? It’s not bartending at some lush night club with low lights, velvet curtains, where it’s impossible to get in…. BUT IN A LOCAL WATERING HOLE THAT LOCALS ACTUALLY GO TO? I love that feeling… which made it so easy to like Matt. He’s flirtatious but respectful and full of quick quips.
THE CHEMISTRY. THE TENSION. THE CLOSE PROXIMITY. It works so well with Paige and Matt and made this book a treat to devour. The banter is spot on.
I was an early reader for this beauty and it had just the perfect feel of summer vacation. At times, I was nostalgic for those teenage summers, where you had nothing but 3 months wide open for fun.
This plot is unique… it’s not going where you think it is.
